February: Sean White—Specialty Diver

Keeping it in the family—Congrats to Sean White!!

How were you drawn to Scuba and what was your first experience like?
It started out as a work project but I discovered a whole world I’d often wondered about.
Have you been on Bruno’s boat The Great Lakes Diver in Port Sanilac and, if so, what was your favorite wreck? If not, do you plan to?
Yes, I’ve been on the boat. I thought I would like the Regina, but actually I’m split on the Sport or the Mary Alice B as my favs.
What is your favorite piece of dive gear from Bruno’s Dive Shop?
Though most people prefer a jumpsuit for diving, I’ve concluded that I like the two piece Jacket/John combo… I have three “johns” (3, 5, & 7mm) and two “jackets” (5 & 7mm). I’ve dove our Great lakes, ventured to the quarries in Ohio, and finally jumped in the ocean down in Florida. Being able to mix and match my suit thickness means I have a comfortable suit for just about any occasion.
Where are you planning on diving next?
Well, now that my wife is certified (thanks Bruno’s!) we’re heading back down to the Keys to jump in… and then, a few months later, maybe the Bonne Terre mine for our anniversary.

How were you drawn to Scuba and what was your first experience like?
I took up scuba after being left behind last year by my husband, Sean, when he and a friend traveled to Key Largo to scuba dive.
Do you plan on taking any classes to improve your training?
I do plan on taking some advanced classes so that I can keep up with Sean and continue diving/traveling with him. Next up is Deep Diving, because I’m not getting left behind on the U-Boat trip [to North Carolina’s &ldquo'Graveyard of the Atlantic”] either! (LOL) In all seriousness, it is so much fun to share these scuba experiences with my hubby.
Have you been on Bruno’s boat The Great Lakes Diver in Port Sanilac and, if so, what was your favorite wreck? If not, do you plan to?
I have only been on Bruno’s boat once but I had a great time! Don’t recall much of the wrecks though as on the first dive my buddy & I were separated and on the second dive I was so focused on watching my buddy (not Sean) that I didn’t see much of anything else! We plan on spending a lot more time on his boat this summer.
What is your favorite piece of dive gear from Bruno’s Dive Shop?
My favorite piece of dive gear from Bruno’s would have to be the BC that Santa brought me, but my pink mask is a close 2nd!

How were you drawn to Scuba and what was your first experience like?

It’s a pretty complicated and exciting story. Some friends signed up for the open water course and nonchalantly uttered; “You should sign up for scuba.” …so I did!

Technically my first experience was Cancun Mexico, but I was much younger and I don’t remember that. So my first memorable experience was at Port Sanilac doing my open water certification dives. I had a blast diving, eating Lenny’s subs, and jumping off the roof of the boat seeing how deep you could go before your wet suit launched you to the surface and into the air.

Do you plan on taking any classes to improve your training?

Of course—as soon as I heard you get narced at around 100ft I was excited to learn more.

What was your favorite dive off of The Great Lakes Diver?

Definitely the Regina, I still can’t wait to finally penetrate that wreck. ; )

What is your favorite piece of dive gear from Bruno’s Dive Shop?
My new wet suit. It is so nice to be able to take off what you put on.
Where are you planning on diving next?

Plan? Wherever, whenever, I’m in.
