Dive Training

Bruno's instructors can provide all levels of training, from your very first snorkeling experience all the way through initial Open Water training to advanced and even instructor. We would like you to be a diver and our aim is to make the training process fun, easy, understandable and affordable.

Age & Health Requirements

As long as you are in reasonable health, anyone from the age of 8 and up can come and take part in a Try Dive in Bruno's Pool. 8–12 year olds can join Bruno’s Scuba Rangers, 12 year olds can take a Junior Open Water course and from 14 upwards you can get certified as an Open Water Diver.

The following link will download an RSTC Dive Medical Statement, which must be completed and turned in prior to any scuba class: Medical Form (Fill out the first page yourself and only if you check yes to any of the conditions, take the second page to your physician for their approval).

Entry-Level Classes

Try Dives

This is your chance to get wet and see what diving is all about. One of Bruno's Dive Leaders will teach you everything you need to know to be completely comfortable with the skills and equipment you will be using during your first underwater experience in Bruno's Pool.

Sessions are $50 and last around two hours.

All you need to bring is a bathing suit and a towel.

Scuba Rangers

Scuba Rangers is a 5 week session open to 8–12 year olds where your child will learn water safety, snorkeling and basic SCUBA diving.

Knowledge and water skills are developed each week, finishing with a demonstration for friends and family of everything accomplished.

Further details, summer camp dates, and pricing can be found here: Scuba Rangers—A Way Cool Kids Club

Open Water Diver

The Open Water Class is the basic entry-level SCUBA course, certifying you to dive to a suggested maximum depth of 60 feet (or 40 feet for Juniors) consisting of 3 parts: Academics, Pool Training and Open Water Dives.

Academics — You can complete this portion of the class online FREE when you sign up for SSI's Online Training Program. We recommend that you give yourself at least a week to work though and absorb this information.

SSI Online Training & Online Services

Pool Training — Here you will learn all the skills you will be using in the open water in the safety of a pool. This portion of the course requires around 16 hours of pool time, which can be scheduled to suit you as we always have instructors available and our pool is always warm (well, usually!)

Open Water Sessions — Finally, you will complete 4 open water dives and have the chance to experience everything you learned in the pool hands-on. Dives can be from our charter boat during the season or by referral to a tropical location during the winter.

After successfully completing the Academics, the Pool and Open Water Sessions you will be certified as an Open Water Diver — your global license to dive!

Continuing Education

Once you can dive independently (with a buddy!), the fun really begins. You can come out diving in the Great Lakes on our charter boat, join one of our local or international trips and can continue your dive training with one of our Specialty Classes like Wreck Diving, Deep Diving, Dry Suit Diving and Enriched Air Nitrox.

More experienced divers may be interested in our higher level and Leadership Classes. Our instructors can teach Advanced Diver, Master Diver, Rescue Diver (including First Aid & CPR), Dive Master and Instructor courses all the way up to Instructor Trainer/Certifier.
