SSI Open Water Referral Class

This version of our Open Water Class is the basic entry-level SCUBA course, certifying you to dive to a suggested maximum depth of 60 feet (or 40 feet for Juniors) and consisting of 3 parts: Academics and Pool Training only. Assistance in arranging Open Water Checkout dives at a tropical location of your choice can be given. Academics — You can complete this portion of the class online FREE when you sign up for SSI's Online Training Program. We recommend that you give yourself at least a week to work though and absorb this information.

SSI Online Training & Online Services

Pool Training — Here you will learn all the skills you will be using in the open water in the safety of a pool. This portion of the course requires around 16 hours of pool time, which can be scheduled to suit you as we always have instructors available and our pool is always warm (well, usually!)

Open Water Sessions — Finally, you will complete 4 open water dives and have the chance to experience everything you learned in the pool hands-on. Prices on this page do not include dives from our charter boat; they are for a referral class and paperwork out of season so that you can complete checkout dives at a tropical location of your choice. After successfully completing the Academics, the Pool and Open Water Sessions you will be certified as an Open Water Diver—your global license to dive!

Course pricing includes: Training Materials, Classroom Theory & Pool Skills Instruction, use of Bruno's Pool, use of Bruno's Rental Gear for the duration of the course—SCUBA (tank, regulator set & buoyancy compensator) and exposure suit. Pricing also includes your own personal Mask, Snorkel & Full-Foot Fins.
